When we visited this remarkable hotel our first impression was of walking into a temple, such was the air of calm and serenity.
We later found out that this was no accident; the hotel design was inspired in part by the viharn (prayer hall) of one of the most beautiful examples of a Lanna period temple, Wat Phra That Lampang Luang in neighbouring Lampang province.
The Rachamankha is certainly a temple to the rich cultural heritage of Chiang Mai, which combines elements of Lanna, Chinese and Burmese influences. Here you will be able to feast your senses, seeing and touching the genuine Lanna artwork, antiques and furniture that fill the hotel.

Everything about this hotel is inspiring, from the restaurant serving Thai, Lanna, Burmese and Tai-Yai cuisine as well as fusion food in a gorgeous setting with its nineteenth century paintings of the life of Lord Buddha; to the bar, with it’s rare antique Korean laqueur screen and it’s lithographs by Henry Moore, Robert Motherwell and other early twentieth century artists. Don’t forget to look around for the two Picassos!
There is a gallery of Lanna treasures upstairs where you can browse among collections of silverware, laquerware, swords and hill tribe jewellery.
Between your daily private coaching sessions with your Life Change Practitioner you may choose to relax by the 20-metre pool with a massage, or to walk the streets of the old walled city, which surround the Rachamankha, exploring its many delights. Then return to this haven of calm to continue work on your Change Plan; in the courtyard to the sound of Northern Thai music, or in your room if you prefer.

An extra bed for an adult or child over 12 can be made available in Deluxe Rooms and Suites. These will be foldaway beds. There will be a charge of £26 per night, which will cover bed and breakfast for the third person.

Flights
Flights vary enormously and it’s really worth shopping around, using comparison sites. At the moment flights from Heathrow to Bangkok in mid January vary between £591 return, direct flight with Thai Airways at Opodo to £528 with one stop with one stop from www.majortravel.co.uk
Bangkok to Chiang Mai with Bangkok Airways, Thailand premier boutique airline are about £38 each way.
Flights are not included in the cost of Life Change Programmes, but we are happy to advise.
